We had multiple reasons for making the journey from Florida to Virginia. Sheri (Ellen's daughter, my niece) has been emotionally stressed for a while as she has been a constant by the bedside of her Dad, who is battling life-threatening issues. She is not only his only daughter, but his only child and George and she have an incredible bond. It has been so hard for her to watch his body fail him.
She & Thomas were also moving this past weekend and could use "Grammy" to run interference with Ben & Jasmine, plus lend a hand with some decorating ideas! So, she needed to feel the arms of her incredible Mom around her, reassuring her that although all of this was over her head...it was all under the feet of our Lord...and He would sustain her through it all.
In addition, we were able to spend some quality time with Mama & Daddy...and it was overdue. Mama has been really sick the past few months battling her asthma and the flu, even spent a night in the hospital because of the severity of them both double-teaming her. Daddy was exhausted from his worry over her and also fell one night leaving the hospital, which resulted in a huge bruise from his ribcage to his knee. Praise God he did not break any bones! It was great to see them both and we even managed to have Chuck come up from NC so all four of us kids could sit around their dinner table again! Lots of reminiscing and laughing over our childhood stories. It was a good time, for sure!
Braddock & Beckham sent some of their art work with us for Grandma & D-Daddy to enjoy. And Ellen also managed to finagle a trip to CiCi's (inside joke) in our schedule!
Obviously, Mama & Daddy enjoyed it!
And when I returned to Jax, sweet Bear & Bubba had a chocolate rose for me!! So sweet and a perfect ending to a perfect road trip! Thanks Ellen!
