We are learning that living in the Ocala National Forest certainly is interesting! Every single day we see new critters right in our own backyard! We have witnessed a sanctuary of birds and squirrels that share our "neighborhood", raccoons, foxes, snakes, brown bears (yikes!), ducks, owls, and bats.
As I sipped my morning coffee last week, I saw seven wild turkeys all walking in a row right in front of our "home". It was intriguing watching them as they seemed to have an order about them, gobbling as they walked and never getting out of step, following the one who was leading them. There was one in their line-up who was obviously injured and limped trying to keep up. But, it did manage to keep up and seemed determined to be a part of the parade. We learned the next day from a resident here that the turkeys "live" in the woods surrounding our development and have been a part of this community for the past 3 years! Seems the people here keep the hunters at bay! Pretty funny. Daily we are mindful of how our Creator has given us so many blessings to enjoy in nature. (Genesis 1)
But yesterday Steven and I saw a sight we had not seen before. We had to stop our car to let a peacock cross the road in front of us! She took her sweet time and it was humorous watching her beautiful tail of colors switch the road behind her like a broom. Truly, never a dull moment!
