40 Years!

Today is our 40th Wedding Anniversary!  So many great memories, three incredible sons, three fabulous daughter-in-laws, seven phenomenal grandchildren, wonderful family and friends who love us and God's calling to full time Christian service.  Our lives together has been so generously blessed and we are so thankful for every single year HE has granted us.

Our sweet church members at Church In The Acres surprised us with a delicious dinner at our weekly Family Night.  We were overwhelmed with warm wishes, cards, love gifts.  So incredibly thoughtful!

FINDING NEMO!!!

Not only have we (almost) survived our first winter in New England...we survived the "Blizzard of 2013, NEMO"!!!   It has been an interesting winter for us, after spending the last 20 years in a very mild climate!  But, despite the frigid temps, we have felt the warmth of our brothers and sisters in Christ daily and that has kept us very, very comfortable!

Our Sunday best includes LOTS of layers!

At least the sun was shining

Check out the depth of the snow!

HIS Peace

                                  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is amazing how fragile we are when it comes to the things life throws at us.  As fearfully and wonderfully made as we are, (Psalm 139:14) our bodies can be easily ravished by disease and accidents.   A fact that is obvious to all of us who have had someone we love go through one or the other.
I have often heard those who were going through a deep valley in their lives, say, "I have such a peace about this".  What a wonderful, yet unusual statement.  A little hard to believe...unless you have experienced it yourself.
I have recently had a minor valley of my own.  Seems there is a small "non-calcified nodule" in my right lung.  Which over the past year had grown 3mm.  My Dr. ordered a CT Scan followed by a PET Scan to rule-out a tumor.  During the couple of weeks it took to accomplish all the testing...I felt that peace.  It was a definite, heart calming sense that everything would be alright, no matter what the final diagnosis turned out to be.
"A peace that surpasses all understanding" (Phil 4:7) is a great way to state it.  It is a bit bizarre to think that one would not worry or stress over something that should rightly worry or stress you!  But, I can honestly say...I definitely experienced that total peace.  I knew in my heart that, even if the outcome would mean, surgery or chemotherapy or radiation or harsh drugs...that HE would walk with me through it all.  Such a marvelous and miraculous feeling.
My final diagnosis was not bad news (Praise HIM), just a nodule that will be checked periodically to assure it stays as it is now.  So, I am thankful I do not have to face a battery of medical procedures, however, I am MORE thankful that my heart was fixed on HIM and resting in the calm assurance that HE purposes my days ( Prob. 16:9) and no matter what...HE would continue to grant me HIS peace through it all.
                                           Thank you, Jesus!
HIS PROMISE
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.  Then you will call upon ME, and I will hear from you.  You will seek ME and find ME, when you seek ME with your whole heart.  And I will be found by you, declares the LORD..."                                               Jeremiah 29:11-14
Winter In New England
Well, we have just passed our one month anniversary here.  So far, it has snowed three times (light dusting) but everyone tells us that "It is not winter here until January and February!"  So, we are awaiting a true winter in New England!  :-D
In the month we have been here, we have been richly blessed (many times over) by our wonderful new church family who have made us feel, not only welcomed, but very special!
We have jumped in the middle of this very busy congregation and are enjoying so many aspects of ministry with our new brothers and sisters in the Lord.
It is always so incredible the way God unites His children by tying our hearts together with His wonderful Holy Spirit.  No matter where He leads, He provides a ready-made
family for us to love and to serve Him side by side.
As we enter this glorious Christmas season, we have so many blessings for which to be thankful.  Our hearts are thankful for His love for us, our gift of abundant and eternal life, the privilege to worship and glorify Him and to serve Him until He comes again.  We are thankful for our incredible family...love bragging on those grandchildren!  And so thankful for the friends He has brought into our lives over the years.  So many blessings!   Such a thankful heart!
"Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.  Whenever I pray I make my request for all of you with JOY. "  Phil. 1:3-4
